Dr. Ventura: The brief comment that follows pertains to both the Sanders and Blamires blogs. I am reminded of what Francis Schaeffer called "true spirituality" as relates to the classroom. The Christian professor has as his or her chief aim, the sacred task of bringing God's light and truth to bear on the subject matter being studies. As Blamires rightly observed, there is not one subject under the sun (or above it for that matter) that is not touched by God's Word. Our aim, therefore, is to not only integrate but practically apply God's understanding to our course materials. Thus is is insufficient to merely begin a class with a prayer or place a verse at the top of the syllabus. We must work tirelessly -- and it is work -- to instill in our students the ability to 'think God's thoughts' about their profession. This is the only way to arm them for the great culture war that awaits them upon graduation. It is, in sum, a biblical worldview that is our goal for both them and us, for as the writer of Proverbs reminds, "As a man thinks [deep in his heart], so he is" (23:7a).
